During December 2025, I tutored Corporate Finance at Athena Studies, a leading exam prep provider in the Netherlands. I taught 2 classes totaling around 40 students, all preparing for their university exams. The curriculum covered the core pillars of corporate finance: portfolio theory, the CAPM, WACC, capital structure theory through Modigliani and Miller, and options pricing using Black-Scholes and binomial models.
My approach was shaped by the learning pyramid, which shows that students retain the most when they are actively involved rather than passively listening. Even while going through the lecture slides, the emphasis was always on asking intuitive questions and getting students to reason through problems before jumping to formulas. By the time we got to the math, the logic already made sense. The main goal was to make learning something they actually enjoyed rather than endured.
